{"id":3164,"date":"2019-03-15T05:26:10","date_gmt":"2019-03-15T05:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.writersghana.com\/?p=3164"},"modified":"2019-03-17T11:14:05","modified_gmt":"2019-03-17T11:14:05","slug":"happy-initiation-day-to-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/writersghana.com\/index.php\/2019\/03\/15\/happy-initiation-day-to-me\/","title":{"rendered":"HAPPY INITIATION DAY TO ME."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Isaac Ato MENSAH<br> Accra \u2013 15 March, 2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"260\" height=\"194\" src=\"https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/download-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3167\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have many initiation dates \u2013 all of which I hold dear and celebrate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> I know my date of birth, baptism, First Holy Communion, initiation into the Catholic Youth Organisation and so on and so forth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> Like some of you might have experienced, life and learning sometimes conspire to ensure that you are no longer active. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"560\" height=\"372\" src=\"https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/215602.b.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/215602.b.jpg 560w, https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/215602.b-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/215602.b-425x282.jpg 425w, https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/215602.b-272x182.jpg 272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>  \u2018I have disowned you as my son; if we meet somewhere we don\u2019t know each other,\u2019 some friends have reported their parents as saying. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> Yes, you may cease to be a member of an organisation, for whatever reason, but do you ever lose your initiation?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> Can any man with a stroke of a pen or via an oral dictum, declare you a non-initiate, a profanus? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"187\" height=\"269\" src=\"https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/images-4-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3173\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> Well, it should be obvious that such parents were just talking ignorantly and out of anger at something they may have found offensive. It could even be a crime committed by their children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> Such worried people need to be given clarity and precision on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> We should  not let ignoramuses give us sleepless nights; birth into this life is an initiation and you cannot be born again, literally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/young-lesotho-shepherds.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3175\" srcset=\"https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/young-lesotho-shepherds.jpg 640w, https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/young-lesotho-shepherds-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/young-lesotho-shepherds-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/young-lesotho-shepherds-425x425.jpg 425w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> Even in the Catholic church, where a tradition of ex communication vitante \u2013 in Ghanaian parlance \u2018I sack myself&#8217; \u2013 exists, such affected persons do not lose their baptism; they remain Catholics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>  What remains in such cases of membership conflict is how long red tape embalmed bureaucrats and egoistic local champions take to acknowledge facts, evidence and reason presented to them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>  There are many people who have had know-nothings threaten them through often awkwardly worded written communication that they should no longer hold themselves as who they are by virtue of their initiation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> At such a point, it is always useful to remember that patience is a virtue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> At a college Advertising class eight years ago, a student (let\u2019s call her Sister T) told me during self introduction, that she will forever feel guilty over her mother&#8217;s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"553\" height=\"369\" src=\"https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/WO-AO840_INITIA_G_20130804184415.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3176\" srcset=\"https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/WO-AO840_INITIA_G_20130804184415.jpg 553w, https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/WO-AO840_INITIA_G_20130804184415-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/WO-AO840_INITIA_G_20130804184415-425x284.jpg 425w, https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/WO-AO840_INITIA_G_20130804184415-272x182.jpg 272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 553px) 100vw, 553px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <br> \u2018You worry me too much,\u2019 Sister T, then 21, quoted her mother as saying. \u2018If I die don\u2019t ever call me your mother.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> I explained to the class that Sister T, then in her mid teens when her mother spoke, did not merit such talk. I urged her to free her mind and tried to convince the class that Sister T&#8217;s mother simply had difficulty  responding to her daughter&#8217;s youthful exuberance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I don\u2019t know if I succeeded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are not talking about membership here, for we all know that there are members of organisations whose membership only brings ridicule and sniggering to the ideals of the group.<br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>I can even declare that I am no longer a member of the Anona Abusua of Abandze and Accra, but the physical act which brought spiritual blessings and graces upon my soul cannot be erased. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/images-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3178\" srcset=\"https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/images-3.jpg 225w, https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/images-3-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> Can The Most High reverse his creation? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> Yes, God can do all things, but will that erase the fact about what He created and its existence or its effects?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The principle of energy conservation states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed but can be transformed from one form to another. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"270\" height=\"187\" src=\"https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/images-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3181\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> So, I am who my initiation says I am and only I can channel its energies and graces for better or for worse; for charity or malice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> Why? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> Because I came in all CONSCIOUSNESS and went through my initiation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> Yes, men acted, but the graces bestowed on me, came from above &#8211; from the inexhaustible store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/ORD58.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3182\" srcset=\"https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/ORD58.jpg 600w, https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/ORD58-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/ORD58-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/writersghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/ORD58-425x425.jpg 425w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> Man, even in his sinfulness or foolishness, is a perfect creation of God. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> The divine mystical work is going on, and another&#8217;s role is just tangential to it; it is through divine grace alone that the dross is turned into gold.
